Round of layoffs hits NetherRealm Studios: 50 jobs at risk

NetherRealm Studios, the company behind the hit Mortal Kombat series, has faced job cuts.

NetherRealm Studios, the company behind the hit Mortal Kombat series, has faced job cuts.

Reports suggest around 50 workers will lose their positions, with most cuts hitting the mobile team.

So far, NetherRealm Studios hasn't addressed these reports so we don't have any confirmed info yet. But it looks like these job losses at the studio are part of a bigger round of cuts at the parent company, Warner Bros and Discovery. This parent company had earlier hinted at a tough year ahead.

The news comes as a shock to many in the gaming world, given NetherRealm Studios' long track record of making successful games. Right now, it's not clear how these job cuts will impact the company's upcoming projects and strategies.

We'll learn more when NetherRealm Studios puts out an official announcement.
