Ubisoft sales plummeted ahead of new Assassin's Creed

French game developer Ubisoft has experienced a sharp drop in sales of its games in recent months. The company had to postpone twice the latest game in the popular Assassin's Creed series which affected its financial results. The game Assassin's Creed Shadows is now scheduled for release on March 20. Ubisoft reports that pre-orders are going well and are similar to those of Assassin's Creed Odyssey one of the best-selling titles in the franchise.

In addition, the Tom Clancy's: The Division 2 expansion has also been delayed. Ubisoft has not yet announced a new release date but indicates that additional time is needed to ensure the quality of the expansion.

The latest quarterly figures show that net bookings a measure of revenue excluding deferred revenue between October and December came to nearly 302 million euros. This is a significant drop from the same period a year earlier when the company posted over 626 million euros. For the first nine months of Ubisoft's broken fiscal year, net bookings reached 944 million euros, down from over 1.4 billion euros last year.

Ubisoft has been under pressure for some time due to disappointing performance of some recent releases and fierce competition in the game industry. The company hopes that Assassin's Creed Shadows can reverse the trend and provide another financial boost. Expectations are high, as the franchise has a large fan base of loyal fans and previous titles such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Odyssey, were very successful.

With the impending release of Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft is focusing on recovery and growth. The next few months will be crucial to see if the game can achieve the expected sales figures and get the company back on track. In any case, the bottom line is that Ubisoft is dependent on the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows. Should this game also fail to live up to expectations, there is a chance that this could be the end of Ubisoft.
