Avatar: Seven Havens officially announced, set after The Legend of Korra
It's official, a new Avatar cartoon is coming to Nickelodeon as Avatar Studios has announced the new series Avatar: Seven Havens.
Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko announce new series in honor of 20th anniversary. The new series, Avatar: Seven Havens, will be a 26-part, 2D-animated series that follows a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Avatar Korra.
In a press release, Nickelodeon says, Seven Havens is set in a world “torn apart by a devastating catastrophe. A young Earthbender discovers she is the new Avatar after Korra, but in this dangerous age, that title is seen as that of humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spiritual enemies, she and her long-lost twin brother must unravel their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before the last bastions of civilization collapse.”
Konietzko and DiMartino said in a statement, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we would still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatar universe is full of fantasy, mystery and an all-new cast of amazing characters.”
Avatar: Seven Havens will be divided into two seasons, with a 13-part Book 1 and a 13-part Book 2. Konietzko and DiMartino are collaborating on the new series as co-creators, along with executive producers Ethan, Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. No cast has been announced yet.
This is the first major TV series from Avatar Studios, which is also working on a fully animated theatrical movie about Aang. This movie, in which an adult Aang goes on a new adventure, will premier in cinemas on January 30th, 2026.
As part of celebrating it's 20th anniversary, Avatar Studios has also announced a series of new books, comics, concerts, toys and a game in Roblox to mark this milestone.
